I’ll be Happy When

Millions of business professionals set new be/do/have goals at the beginning of each year and by the following week hundreds of thousands will have already broken those commitments. It can only take a matter of a few weeks for the passion and excitement to fade and turn into resignation and resentment. So what can we do to shift gears and stay present to the existing beauty in life?  To be happy with the here and now instead of waiting to be happy “when”or “someday”...?

Just this past week as I was immersed in 2005 strategic planning, I found myself becoming increasingly focused on the wants and desires for the company and for myself. My Focus being primarily on wanting more money and obtaining more recognition.

It didn’t take long for my excitement of planning to become overwhelming and frustrating. Thankfully, one of my MasterMind partners saw my overwhelm and  brought this to my attention. Together we took a few minutes to refocus the intention of my 2005 goals, which for me does not begin with money or recognition.

The heart and soul of my business is to assist business professionals in integrating spirituality, meditation, and mindfulness into their professional and personal lives. Within just a few moments, I was experiencing that familiar happiness and peace. Seeing that my life and business right here and now are overflowing with possibilities that will be created for this upcoming New Year.

Imagine just for a moment that you to switch your thinking in 2005 from resolutions to solutions. As opposed to setting a resolution to do something in the future, consider finding a solution in the here and now by asking yourself one simple question, “What do I need right now in this moment?”

By assessing and attending to your immediate needs you bring your focus and attention back to the present moment. You may be surprised at how easily you can be happy now instead of being happy when…

Minute Flashes on
“I'll Be Happy When ... ”

Be happy now by asking yourself, “What do I need right now in this moment?”

Setting time to find new ways to cultivate gratitude and gratefulness in your life will automatically increase your happiness.

Prioritize and schedule some “just for you time” to refuel, recharge, and refocus. It can be near impossible to be happy when your tank is empty.

Instead of setting resolutions, create solutions.

Allow yourself some grace in life to see the beauty in your errors and mistakes.
