The Inevitable Unavoidable (100 seconds)

You have five minutes to get to the next business meeting.  You have prepared for this and you are ready; note cards in one hand and your prop in the other.  You know you are going to wow your fellow professionals.

As you are heading down the hallway looking at your note cards, you take a deep breath, the phone rings.  BLAMO- you find out your partner no longer wants to see you.

In the lifetime of your business career there is a high probability that you will receive a phone call like the this one or that someone has stolen your identity or hear the worst of news from your doctor’s office.

Bad phone calls do happen to good business professionals.

So, how do we be fully present in our business, knowing that the phone may ring with bad news at any moment?

By knowing the unavoidable is inevitable. This does not mean you have to be cheery or optimistic about that unavoidable call.

It’s about knowing that life is full of good, bad, ugly and fantastic moments.  Each of these moments gives you the opportunity to learn and grow. Each is an opportunity for the best of you to be present to life in its unavoidable greatness.

So the next time the phone rings with bad news, remember that the unavoidable is inevitable and be open to learning what gifts this bad news has to bring to your life.

And in the meantime, stop worrying, start relaxing and live well….because I am certain we all will get that phone call sooner or later.

Wishing you all a Happy Monday,

Jason
