Declaring War (99 Seconds)

Recently I watched the movie Hotel Rwanda which was about the conflict between the Hutu and Tutsi leadership that resulted in hate and genocide.

This movie had me wonder if wars around the world are caused by the wars we wage on ourselves.

Have you been hard with yourself lately, aggressively feeling like you should do more, be more, have more while looking for new evidence to declare war and beat yourself up?

You may be critical, defensive, and even hateful towards yourselves, scanning your mind, looking for new and innovative ways to agonize over your faults.

It is a human condition to be self critical which can have you enticed with a story of abandonment, failure, and even worthlessness.

Once you become addicted to suffering you may find yourself trying to resolve your internal war by suppressing your own needs and declaring war on those around you.

See if you can start treating yourself with honor and respect today.  If you are addicted to your own suffering and don’t know where to begin, try the premise that you have done the best that you could given the tools and resources you had at the time.

Let go of any shame and isolation that you feel and powerfully honor and respect yourself today as you make the choice to find some peace and live with your perfect imperfections.

Wishing you a Happy Monday,

Jason
