Rowing to Nowhere(130 seconds)

Have you found yourself feeling like you are putting more and more energy into your work, but not really getting anywhere? 

Imagine for a moment that you are in a row boat, dressed in your business attire and armed with your computer; headed to the island of your destination.  You look down and see that you have only one oar.

You begin to row and even break a sweat with your effort, but soon realize that you are just going around and around in circles.  The faster you row and the more energy you put out the more you see that you are no closer to your destination than when you began.

I recently found myself whirling in circles as I am revamping my website.

As I worked with a new tagline and expanded my marketing theme I found my mind starting to race as I begun feeding my own worries.  Then I remembered if I am only listening to the negativity of my own mind, I am going to continue rowing in circles.

In the business world it can be easy to feel like you are just spinning your wheels and, like me and my website, you might find yourself feeding your own worries and going nowhere fast.

When we feed our critical side we don’t feel safe in the business world and it can be extremely challenging to get anything done. 

Safety begets abundance and when you feel abundant you easily can be decisive and take action toward success.

This week if you don’t feel safe in your work world: try this exercise.  Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and remember a time when you felt complete safety in your life.  For a few moments use your senses to remember what that safety felt like; how did it look, how did it smell, what emotions did you notice when you felt totally safe.

Hold on to this safe harbor as you gear up and go back into your workday.
