Why Are You Here? (130 seconds)

Ever wonder what you are here on earth to do?  You may have pondered this question a bit, but feel like there is no time to philosophize or reflect.  There are things to do, people to meet, places to go.

Well, what if your fast paced life is causing you to miss the ride itself.  Imagine taking a trip in the car while someone else is driving.  Would you want to take some sleeping pills so you can wake up upon arrival at your destination?

This has happened to me in business often.  I have found myself so rushed to arrive at my goal of having new clients or launching the next program that I completely miss the ride of being fully alive.

This past Monday I was invited to play golf with a few close friends.  Sunday night I thought about canceling because my thoughts were leaning towards the amount of work I needed to complete.  After a bit of internal struggle I heard a small quiet voice say, “Go play golf.”

I found myself on the course at 7AM.  Looking at the first hole some 400+ yards away, I realized there was no turning back, so I decided to try and thoroughly enjoy myself.  10 strokes later on that first hole, I was laughing and joking with my buddies realizing how much I have ignored play in my life lately.

As I was leaving the course and checking my messages I was quite surprised to hear a potential client asking for a time to speak with me and a new company exploring the possibility of me doing a training for them.

It is always amazing how full my life becomes when I stop worrying what I should be doing and start just being present with each moment.

When is the last time you took a personal day to enjoy and reconnect?  If you can’t remember, take a look at your calendar and schedule some time to play.

If you are too busy or too concerned to take time off, give me a call at 503-522-4562.  It may be time for some professional help.
