Miracles Do Happen (140 Seconds)

Recently my wife and I made the decision to change our daughter’s daycare.  We had been talking about it for months and finally I realized I was only talking rather than actually doing something about it, but I was not moving into the reality of my dream.  Now, instead of listening to my daily internal complaints, I began to pray into the bigger possibility of miracles.

I clearly heard that still small voice say “Go and look at places for your daughter.”  That week my wife and I checked out a wonderful Montessori school.  To our delight we knew right away that are daughter would thrive in a place like this.  The school was filled with enthusiasm, creativity, and love; the sort of welcoming place where people look you in the eye and say hello.

My wife and I agreed that if Sierra could go anywhere we would choose for her to go to this school.  So I braced myself and asked, “When could she start?” and “How much is it?”  I nearly started crying when I heard a space wouldn’t be available for her until July and it would cost triple what we were currently paying.

As my mind raced back and forth, my enthusiasm and excitement turned to resentment and resignation.  The facts were we could not wait until July to make the change and, even if we could, the price was impossible for us to meet.

So with my tail between my legs and impossibilities crushing my mind we left Fantasy Island and came back to reality.  That is until that night when I started to pray again.  I gave myself permission to feel what it would be like to pick Sierra up from this perfect school knowing she was getting the best possible care and education that we could provide for her.  And again I heard that still small voice say, “Ask for a scholarship.”

The next day I talked with the school, family members, and our surrounding community.  To my amazement a scholarship was available.  With new found hope I called the school again and asked for a referral until a spot was available for Sierra to begin.  To my surprise they stated they just had a student leave the school and they had one immediate opening held for Sierra.  All they needed to know was when could she start?

Miracles do happen.  Today is Wednesday March 1st, 2006 and I get to once again give myself permission to feel what it is like to pick my daughter up from this wonderful new school …only this time the miracle is my reality.

Special Assignment:

What do you think is impossible because of money or time?

Step 1:  Rest into a quiet space and open your heart

Step 2:  Visualize yourself receiving that impossible reality and notice how you feel

Step 3:  Ask “What is the first practical step in receiving this reality?”

Step 4:  Give gratitude and take that first step toward your miracle

Wishing you all a happy Monday,

Jason

Technical Difficulties

Perhaps due to my technical challenges last week, MMM readers did not email me to share their special assignment.  Also, the word assignment may not be the best fit, please email me your ideas for a better subheading for each week's "special assignment" and please know I am always open to your sharing.
