Customer Service and Self Care

Learning self care is a must for anyone who wishes to succeed in customer service.

Are you feeling overwhelmed in the workplace?  With additional demands placed on you daily you are asked to do more in less time.  It can be easy to get frustrated and start to feel resentful if you tank is on empty and there is no end in site.

Take a breath, close your eyes, and remember when you were first offered the position for your current job.  Take a moment and remember your excitement, your dedication to service, and your desire to make a difference.

The three steps to leading with a heart of service:

People

We are all people with human needs, cares, and desires.  However in the fast pace of business it is easy to forget that clients and co-workers have needs just like you.  When you are overloaded you may forget to treat people as fully human and start to treat them as either filling your needs or taking away from them.

Take a moment and remember that all people have needs, cares, and desires.

Heart

How much time are you spending giving to other people compared to giving to yourself?  Most Americans do not manage self care very well.  In the intensity of the workplace you can easily forget to take some time to relax and clear your mind.  A little bit of self care can go a long way in making us more effective as caring people.  As we take loving care of ourselves we are more able to care for the needs of others.

Have you scheduled an appointment with yourself to take care of you?

Service

When we follow the golden rule by treating others as we want to be treated and taking care of ourselves; we will be on a full tank, which will then allow us the joy of giving to others from a place of fullness rather than lack.  It is like the exercise of raising your hands as high as you can…and then raising them even higher.  Your ego can often trick you.  Trust your heart and go the extra mile in service

Being of service comes naturally when you treat everyone as human and fill your own tank.

Jason assisted me in realizing the value in bringing meditation into my workplace. I learned that when I am not making time for some of the basics of life then I am not being efficient in my work. Following Jason¹s presentation I have found myself doing some basic breathing exercises, being more aware of my posture, and making moves to balance my energy levels. I absolutely believe that Jason¹s methodologies are effective and I recommend them to any workplace struggling with balance. - John Friess, Co-Founder, wired.MD
